Searching the Rush County Court Docket
Start with Indiana MyCase. It is the main public route to case information from Rush Circuit Court and Rush Superior Court. You can search by case number, citation, cross-reference number, party, business, or attorney. When a broad name search pulls results from elsewhere in Indiana, select Rush County in the Court field. Category filters then narrow the Rush County court docket to criminal and citation, civil, family, or probate matters. MyCase sometimes demands a CAPTCHA. It also limits public results. A failed automated or very broad search, then, does not prove a docket is missing.
Use the most exact identifier you have. A full case number is best. A party search works better with both first and last name, and a business name belongs in the Business field. Official tips allow a wildcard only at the end of a term. It cannot be paired with sounds-like matching.
- Open MyCase and choose Case, Party, or Attorney.
- Select Rush County and a useful category.
- Enter one reliable identifier and search.
- Match the court, style, filing date, and status.
- Read the newest events and confirm uncertainty with the clerk.
Rush County MyCase Search Fields
MyCase is statewide. You can still isolate Rush County by choosing the right court. On the Case tab, enter only one of case number, citation number, or cross-reference number at a time. Party searches accept a personal name or a business. Date and status filters are optional. Attorney searches take either counsel's name or bar number, and the Court choice controls which categories appear.
| Route | Best input | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Case, citation, or cross-reference number | One identifier at a time |
| Party | Name or business | Common names need filters |
| Attorney | Name or attorney number | Do not combine routes |
| Advanced | Rush County, status, file dates | Narrow dates can hide a case |
The official MyCase search tips explain these controls. Search broadly enough to catch a transfer or a spelling difference, then narrow things down with facts you have verified.

Inside a Rush County Court Docket
A public Rush County chronological case summary lays out most of the file. It identifies the case number, court, and type. Filing date, status, style, parties, attorneys, events, settings, and disposition appear as well. Criminal matters add charges, bonds, and citation data. Civil cases can show categories, orders, and financial entries. Related cases and cross-references explain why a known identifier points to a different file.
| Case number | Rush court code, filing year and month, type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Case style | The public caption. |
| Events | Filings, orders, hearings, resets, and other activity. |
| Setting | Date, time, type, and location when public. |
| Documents | Only files allowed by the access matrix. |
| Disposition | Outcome or status read with later activity. |
Treat the summary as a finding aid. It is not a certified copy, and MyCase itself warns of possible omissions and notes that its financial display may not be the official balance. The Rush County Clerk holds the official record.
Rush County Docket Codes Explained
Indiana Administrative Rule 8 makes the first block of a Rush County case number worth reading. 70C01 marks Rush Circuit Court. 70D01 marks Rush Superior Court. The next group gives the last two digits of the filing year plus the month. After that comes a case-type code, such as IF for an infraction, CM for a misdemeanor, F1 through F6 for felonies, or SC for small claims. The final six-character group is the sequence.
- 70
- Rush County's code.
- C01
- Rush Circuit Court.
- D01
- Rush Superior Court.
- YYMM
- Year and filing month.
A transfer can change that first group while the final sequence stays the same. The case-number rule gives the authoritative structure.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Rush County
Rush County runs two co-equal trial courts. One unified clerk serves both. The current Indiana directory lists no separate municipal, town, probate, or county court for current filings. The old 70E01 Rush County Court code is abolished. Appeals from local final judgments ordinarily go to the Indiana Court of Appeals, whose docket sits apart from the local chronological case summary.
| Office | Rush County docket role | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Rush Circuit Court, 70C01 | Assigned criminal, civil, probate, family, juvenile, and even-month infractions | 765-932-2078 |
| Rush Superior Court, 70D01 | Drug or alcohol criminal cases, many small claims and evictions, other assigned work, and odd-month infractions | 765-932-3520 |
| Rush County Clerk | Custody, inspection, copies, certifications, and routing | 765-932-2086 |
Search both local courts when the identifier is unknown. Federal cases never appear in MyCase. Rush County federal matters belong to the Indianapolis Division of the Southern District of Indiana, which uses PACER or CM/ECF.
The 2024 Rush County Docket
The certified Indiana Trial Court Statistics selection for all Rush County courts counted 2,231 new filings in 2024. Another 1,162 cases were pending at the start. Eight were venued in, and 24 more transferred in. That put 3,425 cases before the courts. The report counted 2,422 dispositions and 984 matters pending at year end, though these are workload measures rather than a live case list.
The official Indiana court statistics system adds context. Criminal filings included 363 misdemeanors and 161 level-six felonies. Civil activity ran from 303 collections and 119 small claims to 62 evictions and 65 protective-order filings, which shows why the court and case-type filters matter.

How to Find Court Dates and Settings
Rush County offers no separate public calendar site. Open the case in MyCase. Read the newest entries for a hearing, setting, continuance, reset, order, or disposition. Administrative Rule 9 also requires daily calendars or dockets at the courthouse. They must carry the case number, caption, date, time, and location.
For your own appearance, a filed notice, signed order, or latest confirmation from the correct court controls. An old setting can stay visible after a reset. Compare later entries. Call Circuit or Superior Court when the time, place, or status is unclear. Need more? The Rush County court dates guide explains each channel and missed-setting steps.

The office lists no public records email. Courthouse inspection remains available during regular hours under Administrative Rule 9.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Indiana leans toward openness. Public access does not always mean you can download a file. Rule 4 builds the baseline. Rule 5 carves out what stays closed. Records made confidential by law or court order, medical information, specified reports, private identifiers, and sealed filings stay out. Remote access, courthouse inspection, daily calendars, and compiled requests all fall under Administrative Rule 9. The Indiana Access to Public Records Act sits at IC 5-14-3. Anyone who wants the statutory text can start there.
Key Indiana access rules:
Access Rule 4 begins with access subject to exclusions.
Access Rule 5 identifies protected material.
Administrative Rule 9 covers remote lists, courthouse access, calendars, and bulk requests.
Getting an excluded record may take a verified Rule 9 court process. Until the court rules, the material stays confidential. The clerk cannot ignore a seal or hand out a protected identifier, whatever the requester asks.
Rush County Online Access Limits
What MyCase shows depends on the type of case. Public users often see nonconfidential orders and documents in collection, tort, foreclosure, and plenary matters. Felony and misdemeanor pages generally put sentencing orders online. Other public documents may still need an in-person request. Small claims, eviction, estate, guardianship, and infraction cases often show nonconfidential orders online too. More material may sit at the clerk's office.
Adoption, juvenile, and mental-health records never pass through the matrix to the public. Even nonconfidential family documents are generally unavailable online, though you can inspect them in person. A missing image proves nothing. It may reflect the category, the record's age, a seal, or a portal limit. None of that means a filing is absent.
Docket Records at the Clerk
A Rush County docket is not the same thing as the full case file. The docket is a chronological case summary. It is an index of what happened and when. The file holds the substance: pleadings, motions, orders, exhibits, and other documents that remain public. When you need a certified copy, only the clerk can issue one. A portal printout lacks that certification. Transcripts are a separate matter. They come from the court reporter.
| Item | Cost or status |
|---|---|
| MyCase search | No charge stated |
| Plain or certified clerk copy | Confirm the current fee |
| Non-indigent transcript original | Maximum $4.25 per page |
| Transcript copy | Maximum $1.25 per page |
| One-time bulk request | $88 per hour through IOCS/OJA |
For older holdings, an archive route may be the answer. The Indiana State Library Rush guide describes historic coverage and custodians.

Rush County Courthouse Record History
Rush County took shape in 1822, and a first courthouse followed in 1823. Today's building gives the clerk and both trial courts a distinct local setting. Its official historic nomination describes a Romanesque structure built in 1896. The rock-faced stone, steel frame, clock tower, stained glass, and large Indiana seal all appear there. Rushville history materials, though, put completion in 1898. Both dates matter because the official sources genuinely differ.
The building also marks a shift from paper custody to electronic access. Rush Circuit and Superior courts went live in Odyssey on December 1, 2009. MyCase now exposes public case information and selected documents. Older records and exhibits can still demand direct work with the clerk or an archive. Never confuse a portal start date with the creation date of the court's records.
The official courthouse nomination supports the architectural account.

Rush County Court Dockets by City
Official Census and Indiana materials count three incorporated places in Rush County: Rushville city, Carthage town, and Glenwood town. None runs its own city or town court, according to the current directory, the Odyssey list, and the case-number rules. Docket matters tied to these places go through Rush Circuit Court, Rush Superior Court, MyCase, ePay, and the unified clerk.
Rushville Docket Search
The county seat and courthouse location. MyCase provides public searches, while the county clerk supplies official records.
Carthage Docket Search
Carthage Town Hall is not a court. Cases and citations route to the Rush County courts.
Glenwood Docket Search
Town utility payment tools are separate from court payments. Use MyCase or Indiana ePay.
The Indiana county directory confirms the geography. Arlington is only a census-designated place, not an incorporated city or town, so it does not get a separate city docket.

Rush County Docket Fallback Steps
If MyCase returns no Rush result, strip out an uncertain category and check the spelling. Try the alternate Rush court, and search by citation or cross-reference when available. A protected, sealed, juvenile, adoption, mental-health, or granted-expungement matter may simply not appear publicly. Older material can predate complete electronic coverage. Federal cases live in PACER, not MyCase.
Then call the Rush County Clerk at 765-932-2086. Have the court, case number, and party name ready. Know the document or event you want, plus a useful date range. Ask about current hours and public-terminal availability before you mail any payment. Fees and the correct request method matter too. For a known setting, the court office can confirm the latest public date. These fallback steps keep a portal gap from becoming a false conclusion about the Rush County court docket.
Map and Directions to the Rush County Courthouse
Rush Circuit Court, Rush Superior Court, and the Clerk's records counter are all kept at the Rush County Courthouse, 101 East 2nd Street, in downtown Rushville, the county seat. The Clerk's Office is in Room 209, while Circuit and Superior Court staff sit on the third floor. The Romanesque courthouse dates to 1896 (a separate city-history source gives 1898), with a square clock tower and stained glass that make the building a recognizable local landmark.
